According to Shuffled by Sarah on Substack, Spotify recognises at least 1,383 genres of music so we have plenty of opportunities to explore, from A Cappella to Zydeco with every letter of the alphabet in between (apart from X).
We probably won’t start with Depressive Black Metal, which sounds well, a little depressing but there are plenty of more mainstream genres for us to feature. It will provide an interesting opportunity for us and other 3221’s to explore the difference between say Space Rock and Deep Space Metal or Grisly Death Metal and Grim Death Metal!!!
We may even include some ‘genres’ that Spotify does not recognise, for instance whilst ‘Movie Tunes’ is a genre there is no for Songs from Musicals, which we should surely feature at some point.
